We don't mean unlock equally in physically, just users can now open the console and add their ain SSD if they demand extra storage. Previously, Sony had introduced this characteristic but information technology was only available to beta testers, but this update ways that all console owners should be able to accept advantage of it.
That being said, don't get also excited just nonetheless because Sony has a list of requirements for SSDs for the PS5. According to Sony's support page, the SSD you choose must be an Thousand.2 SSD, not an G.ii SATA SSD. Also, the entire SSD needs to be formatted for the PS5 and you cannot partition it.
The SSD also must have its own heatsink, but Sony advises confronting calculation a heatsink to it if it already has ane as information technology plain affects the effectiveness of it. Likewise, the SSD in question needs to accept at least v,500MB/s with a PCIe Gen4 interface.
This does narrow downward the amount of SSDs that you can cull from, just those are the requirements yous'll have to take note of.
